Introduction

For many years i worked for the Poolbar Festival and did a lot of digital Projects from them. And now finally it happend and i built the official website which was in the hands of the designer Michael Marte before. The website provides indepth functionality and preserves a timeless design where parts can be switched out every year when the festival gets a fresh design.

Purpose

A website for a festival has to serve its purpose and inform the user about the events and keep them updated about changes. It also sells tickets and serves as an archived for past events, publications and much more.

Design Philosophy

While making an artistic looking website i leaned on the old site but reimagined a lot of its features. The site should be stable for years. I will be working on the site every year for sure but the scaffolding should hold up. A big thing i thought of is the swappable elements that can be hot swapped like the banner animation on the homepage. As the festival invents itself new each year, we have to adapt a bit without trowing away the whole site, so this is the solution.
